C.S.A. First National
    "Stars and Bars"

The First National Flag of the Confederate States of America flew from 1861 to 1863. Each of the seven stars represents a Confederate state in March, 1861, when the flag was adopted. Because of its similarity to the United States flag, difficulty arose in distinguishing one from the other, especially on the battlefield. This resulted in "friendly fire" and the capture of many prisoners of war on both sides.
